Aesthetically, beautiful library welcomes the students
When you enter Copenhagen Business School (CBS), this beautiful library calls for immediate attention. With its impressive aesthetic appearance, pleasant lighting, and warm colours, the library has undergone an extensive makeover since 2017, when the project of modernizing the library interior began.
At the library, the students can use the reading room to immerse themselves in reading and assignments, while the staff have been placed more prominently by the entrance area. Almost one million annual visitors have visited this impressive library in the last couple of years, which is open for students 24 hours a day. The modernization of the interior of the library is based on several user studies and furthermore inspired by Cambridge University Futurelib and Dokk1 in Aarhus.
Lammhults Biblioteksdesign A/S has delivered all shelving as well as custom-made, built-in showcases. The shelving is designed to match existing niches, and the warm, mahogany showcases create a contrast to the stringent shelving, which together provide an overall great impression.
”We have chosen to furnish the library to improve communication and dialogue between us and the students. We have received a great amount of positive feedback from the students who compliment the aesthetics, and they feel that the library is an inviting environment to study in,” says librarian Liv Bjerge Laursen.
