Sustainable Library Design

In 2021, Thedesignconcept worked closely with GLL to environmentally design Bromley Library. New furniture was selected with minimal environmental impact in mind, and existing shelves were upgraded. New end panels which show quotes from famous literary figures where also added which modernise the main library.

A new adult IT suite which provides internet access and printing facilities to users, while collaborative zones for group study have been created as well as quiet places for independent study.

The introduction of a soft play area and vibrant visual end-panels breathes new life into the Children's Library and creates a dynamic and interactive space for children to play, learn and let their imaginations run wild.

Introduced to the library via Arts Council Funding the BIPC Business Hub encourages small businesses to flourish.
The Centre allows people to come together to learn, network and access free and low-cost information and support in protecting and commercialising a business idea. Continuing to respect the sustainability objective, furniture used is manufactured with materials of over 90% recyclable content.
