Opening of new study zone at Esbjerg Central Library
17 June 2016 / Project news
As part of the refurbishment of the library a new grand staircase with seating and study zone on the first floor are now ready for usage
Esbjerg Central Library was first opened 32 years ago and is now facing a major refurbishment in order to meet today's demands for a modern library. By the end of 2018 the library will appear far more contemporary, inviting and as a vivid house, where you meet crisscrossing through mediation, in studio environments and for various events.
The mayor of Esbjerg, Johnny Søtrup, has just opened first stage of the refurbishment. A new grand staircase with seating leads to the first floor where a new study zone is the setting for a studio environment and classrooms with several study places. The study zone now appears much more open and the space is utilized much better than before.
The interior design is made by interior architect Lykke Jørgin from Lammhults Biblioteksdesign A/S in cooperation with Move Arkitekter. Lammhults Biblioteksdesign has delivered the furniture including Frontline shelving system, Maria display stand, tables, chairs and a variety of customised furniture.
Next stage in the refurbishment is a civic zone with activities aimed at citizens and a family zone with activities aimed at children, youth and adults.
