A fresh, accessible and welcoming library interior
This library stands as the first of its kind in Ghent, specifically designed and constructed to serve as a library, with its origins tracing back to the late 1970s. After many years of service, it became imperative to undertake a comprehensive renovation.
Librarian Tiene Moenaert: “The new interior is very bright, light and spacious, providing a pleasant framework around the books that receive all the attention they deserve. The readers responded very enthusiastically and figures show that the visitor rate is skyrocketing.”
For the library shelving systems, every effort was made to maximaze the utilization of the existing Uniflex shelving, complemented with new components to minimize the need for new materials.
