Barrhead Foundry’s library has reached award-winning status by being presented with the ‘Best new library’ award at the Edge Conference, Edinburgh in March 2016.

Opening up a world of opportunity, Barrhead Foundry is a multi-purpose community hub in the heart of the area. Thedesignconcept created a vivid and cultural environment to welcome visitors of all ages while flexible furniture is used to make the most of the space available for social events, cultural events and communication.

The Cocoon range of modular furniture is found throughout the library and adds colour, book storage and a place for visitors to sit and relax. Colourful graphics decorate the walls in the children’s area with quotes aimed to inspire and encourage young visitors to pick up a book and spend some time in the library.

With innovative soft seating around the library, users can make themselves comfortable and are encouraged to make the most of the functions that are readily available. Teenagers enjoy an area created just for them, with vibrant wall graphics, games consoles and big screens.

Working with Solus UK, the digital technology throughout the library is second to none.  Digital bars, self service areas and an IT suite allow for downloading e-books, audio books and digital magazines.

With all of this available, along with top of the range sports facilities, café and business zone, it is no wonder Barrhead Foundry has achieved the ‘best new library’ title.
