It is now a vibrant, accessible, family and community-centred hub. In collaboration with Oldham Council and the local Northmoor team, our team reimagined the library as a buzzing, inclusive hub for the whole community. Think modern design, innovative technology, and a vibe that is all about connection, creativity, and curiosity across every generation. It is now a dynamic space where creativity, curiosity, and connection can thrive across generations.

Sure, it has a shiny new roof, windows, and doors, making it energy-efficient and future-ready. And yes, there’s fresh furniture and bold new paint. But the real magic? It is all about the transformation of the space itself, it’s more than just an upgrade, it’s an investment in Northmoor’s people and its future. While books and resources are still front and centre, it is now also a flexible, welcoming space that pulls people in and makes them want to stick around. Shelving and display are so important
Mobile shelving adds flexibility within the main space. The decorative acoustic boards create attention and display between our beautiful Lingo shelving.

Children’s Library
A standout feature is the Children’s Library, a truly transformative space. Designed as a jungle-themed wonderland, it combines vibrant colours, engaging graphics, and ample space to ignite young imaginations. With flexible seating and a dedicated storytelling corner, this space redefines reading as an adventure. This investment in our younger generation is truly inspiring.

Relax & Unwind
For those looking to relax, the casual seating areas provide a comfortable environment to unwind, have a conversation, or immerse yourself in a new book. Thoughtfully curated displays and high-quality furniture ensure an enjoyable and easy discovery of something new. High back armchairs (cocooned) for reading make the space a living room away from home and the world.

Focus & Collaboration

For students, professionals, and creatives alike, the new study spaces are designed to foster both focus and collaboration. Equipped with power outlets and data connections, these spaces cater to individual work or group projects, making it easier to stay productive.

Digital Upgrade

The library's digital offerings have received a significant upgrade. The space now includes foldable mobile tables for study or group work, complete with USB charging, as well as new public-access PC benches and improved cable management. With more computers available and expanded digital skills programs, visitors now have access to the tools and resources they need to enhance their technological capabilities. A bespoke counter and unit encourage customers to use the RFID/self-issue machine.
